Two convicts (a husband and wife duo) who have been brought to Judicial magistrate court here by Andhra police from Nellore have given a slip to the Police escorts and escaped on the pretext of using the toilet in Coimbatore railway station.
The remand prisoners Deenadaylan and his wife Priyanka who were arrested in a theft casem while working in a private company in Karumathampatti by the Coimbatore police had come out on bail and escaped to Andhra Pradesh. As the duo continued with their thievery in Nellore too they were arrested by the Andhra police in a similar incident and sent to prison.
In the meanwhile, the duo was brought to Coimbatore Judicial magistrate court-2 for the hearing which came up on Tuesday, when they escaped after scaling the toilet walls.
The Andhra Police team has complained to Tamilnadu Railway Police, who have mounted a manhunt with the help of CCTV footages obtained from the railway station.
