An all party agitation was staged in Sundarpuram condemning that Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation for deficiency of services in Kurichi and Sundarpuram areas. Led by Kurichi Prabhakaran, the Area Secretary of DMK, over 150 protestors raised slogans against the Municipal corporation. They alleged that the drinking water supply system has collapsed in Kurichi area, where the supply is carried out only once in a month.
“While in other parts of the Corporation water supply is carried out once in a week or ten days, here in Kurichi it is once in a month” the protesters hailing from opposition parties including, DMK, Congress, CPI, CPM, and VCK said.
The protesters alleged that Ettimadai Shanmugam, the local MLA had turned Nelson's eye to the people problems and not bothered to visit the constituency even once in the recent times.
Police arrested the 150 agitators including 48 women who staged the agitation.
