Sri Ramakrishna Hospital & GE Healthcare collaborate to train youth for jobs in the healthcare sector

SNR Sons Trust and GE Healthcare are getting into an agreement to offer trainings in various technical areas of healthcare. The partnership will focus on bridging the skill gap in healthcare. The announcement was made in the presence of Mr. R.Vijayakumhar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust; Mr. Marut Setia, Head – Education and professional services - Africa, India, South Asia, ASEAN and Mr. Mandeep Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer, Wipro GE Healthcare.

Training and capacity building forms an integral part of the agreement, given that skilled human resources within the health sector are extremely crucial and in limited supply in India. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mandeep said, “There are an estimated 5.8 billion people globally who do not have access to quality healthcare.

Our goal is to improve access to healthcare and skilling is an important element of that. In healthcare, solutions don’t come in boxes. We need skilled people who can use the equipment effectively to deliver quality care. We are delighted to partner with SNR Trust to address the skill gap that exists today and create a meaningful and sustainable impact on the quality of diagnosis and associated healthcare delivery.”

At GE Healthcare Education Institute (GE HCI), the training wing of GE Healthcare, will set up a state of the art “Advanced Healthcare Simulation Lab” to design, develop and execute these courses through a mix of both classroom training and interactive training exercises.

In the first phase, the lab will be used to train the Biomedical Engineering students of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College in order to make them industry ready professionals.

Subsequently, the plan is to offer advanced skill training to various other healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses and technicians from different regions.
