Shocking indeed. It is Rs.15 to use the public toilet in Ukkadam Bus Stand

Allegations of Corporation lessees, who are maintaining paid toilets and sanitary complexes in the city fleecing the public has become rampant and order of the day. They often overcharge and fleece the paid toilet users in the city with impunity.

Shockingly enough, one such lessee, Abdullah who is running the paid toilet in Ukkadam bus stand has gone over the board and is collecting Rs.15 for to use the public amenity. While Rs.15 is collected to use the bath  Rs.3 is collected for the urinals.

“ The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has fixed Rs.3 for using the bathroom and Rs.1 for urinals. But none of the lesses and contractors have stuck to the prescribed amount.” say passengers and commuters who have been on the receiving end of greedy contractors.

“The lesses want to make a quick-buck and started fleecing the commuters. Display boards denoting charges are not put up in most of the city's paid urinals.” alleges another passenger.

The corporation has to periodically inspect these paid amenities to ensure that the lesses are not cheating the public. Even though, a drive was undertaken in January in which the license of a contractor was canceled in the city, continuous monitoring by the civic officials could only bring an end to this menace.
