Popular Friends of India, a forum has submitted a petition to District collector TN Hariharan to intervene and end Police harassment of Islamic youth, who are not connected with Sasikumar murder case.
The forum members who met the collector today alleged that the Crime Branch (CB-CID) who are vested with the investigation of the sensational murder case of Hindu Munnani leader Sasikumar could not make any headway in the case. The police who are yet to arrest the two key accused in the case, are harassing the Muslim youth in the name of interrogation.
Alleging that the Muslim youth are harassed by the police, the members of the forum said that police are also trying to implicate some innocent youth in this murder case with the offers of money.
In the name of interrogation, the Muslim Youth were detained for long by the Police and they are subjected to many restrictions and harassment. The youth thus detained were not allowed to speak over the mobile phone even to the near and dear one.
The members of the forum later met City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj and submitted a copy of the petition.
Hindu Munnani leader Sasikumar was hacked to death by a group of persons near G.N. Mills in September last.
