The State Government has envisaged a slum and hutments -free Tamilnadu under “ Housing for all” scheme and all the hutments would be replaced with concrete structures and houses in a phased manner said SP Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development.
Inaugurating the works for the establishment of “ Amma Gym” at the cost of Rs.30 lakh at Vedapatti town panchayat and handing over Housing construction permits to 220 beneficiaries at the cost of Rs. 7.8 crores, the minister said that the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had inaugurated “ Housing for all” scheme, and announced that 10,000 concrete houses would be constructed for BPL ( Below Poverty Line) families. A Government subsidy of Rs.2.5 lakh could be availed by the beneficiaries under this scheme.

The present Government has expedited the implementation of housing projects under this scheme and scope of the project has been enhanced to benefit all sections of the society “ SP. Velumani said.
The Government has also expedited development projects such as construction of flyovers, integrated drinking water supply schemes and extended basic amenities like sanitary complexes and individual toilets to beneficiaries.
