CPI State Secretary Mutharasan Criticizes Tirupati Laddu Controversy, Calls for Action on Various Issues

CPI State Secretary Mutharasan addressed various issues including the Palestine conflict, Samsung workers' union rights, and tribal land encroachment in Coimbatore during a press meet, calling the Tirupati laddu controversy a distraction.

Coimbatore: Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Mutharasan held a press conference at the party's district office in Coimbatore today (Oct. 6), addressing several national and local issues.

Mutharasan expressed concern over the Palestine conflict, stating that over 45,000 innocent people have lost their lives. He criticized the United States and England for supporting Israel and engaging in direct warfare, creating a tense global situation. He pointed out that India has historically supported Palestine since Jawaharlal Nehru's time and recognized it as a separate nation. However, he accused the current Modi government of taking a pro-Israel stance, which he deemed contrary to India's non-aligned policy and supportive of genocide.

Regarding local issues, Mutharasan welcomed the Chief Minister's appointment of three ministers to address the Samsung workers' union rights dispute in Kanchipuram. He also highlighted the encroachment of tribal lands in areas like Periyanaickenpalayam, Anaikatti, and Veerapandi by private hostel companies, urging awareness and government action on this matter.

The CPI leader criticized the actions of the police, revenue, and forest departments for allegedly supporting private hostels in tribal areas. He called for a proper investigation into Isha Foundation, questioning why they sought a stay order from the Supreme Court if they had nothing to hide in a sexual harassment case.

Mutharasan urged the state government to reconsider closing the Kallar Fruit Farm, citing its importance for farmers and research students. He also criticized the Union government's economic policies, which he claimed have led to increased oil prices and overall inflation without corresponding salary increases for the public.

Addressing the Tirupati laddu controversy, Mutharasan dismissed it as a diversionary tactic, stating, "There are so many problems in the country including law and order and agricultural issues. This laddu issue is political indecency." He emphasized the need to focus on more pressing matters.

The CPI leader concluded by calling for the protection of small and medium enterprises, criticizing the Modi government for abandoning policies that supported these sectors during Nehru's time. He also requested the state government to reconsider the electricity tariff hike and take measures to ensure easy availability of raw materials for industries.
