Kovai Kulangal Kulangal Iyakkam as a part of their crusade, held a cleanup drive at Sengulam Lake from 7 to 9 today morning. Around 200 volunteers took part in the drive.
Manikandan, organizer of the movement explains that every Sunday lakes in different parts of the city are cleaned with the support of volunteers. Tones of plastic are extracted and the Castor plant in the region is being removed as it seeps in a lot water decreasing water levels of the lake.
The landscape of the lake extends to 256 acres of which 2.5kms were cleaned today. The zealous participants of the movement also urge the government to allocate funds for the cleaning up of the water bodies in our nation.
