Savi Sharma, Author of national bestseller 'Everyone Has a Story' was in the city for the promotion of her second book 'This Is Not Your Story'. The event was held at Odyssey in the Brookefields mall. In an exclusive interview with SimpliCity she talks of dreams, aspirations, career decisions and her book- 'This Is Not Your Story'

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?
Right from my childhood, I have always been interested in writing and storytelling. However, I opted for Chartered Accountancy at college. When I was waiting for my results after a particular examination in order to divert my mind, I finished 10 novels in 10 days. That is when I realized I had a true calling in this field.
Why had you self published your first book?
That is because I knew I had a story to tell straight from the heart. It was one that I believed in and so I wanted to waste no time in lookout for another publisher.

What is the true essence of your book?
The true essence of my book lies in celebrating friendship, romance, life and the stories that each individual has to tell.
How did your parents react to you dropping out of Chartered Accountancy?
Initially my parents were hesitant to let me do that. They were insecure of my future and wanted me to acquire a degree at least. However, today they are extremely proud of what I have achieved and stand as strong pillars of support in everything I do.
Which character in your book do you relate to the most?
Meera is a character I connect with, although Shaurya too has had a life similar to mine as he too was pursuing Chartered Accountancy even though he aspired to be a film maker.
What is the writing ambience that you prefer?
I usually like writing at night as it is mostly quiet. I also sit at cafes and write a lot of times. I took the inspiration for Kabir, a character in my book, from a café manager at Café Coffee Day.
Any message to the youth of today?
Always believe in yourself. Chase your dreams. Never give up on them.
