DMK, AIADMK Members Stage Walkout After Heated Argument in Madathukulam Town Panchayat Meeting

DMK and AIADMK members walked out of the Madathukulam Town Panchayat meeting after a heated argument over alleged interference by the DMK leader's husband and irregularities in fund allocation.

Tirupur: The Madathukulam Town Panchayat meeting in Tirupur district turned chaotic today as DMK and AIADMK members engaged in a heated argument before staging a walkout. The meeting, chaired by DMK's Kalaivani Balamurali, was attended by members from all 18 wards under the panchayat.

The controversy erupted when DMK's deputy leader Ranganathan accused the chairperson of allowing her husband Balamurali to interfere excessively in panchayat affairs. He also alleged irregularities in the allocation of funds for welfare schemes without the knowledge of council members.

A major point of contention was the alleged mismanagement of the Rs 22 crore drinking water project being implemented under a central government scheme. Members also raised issues about improper maintenance of drainage systems and inadequate garbage collection, leading to deteriorating sanitary conditions in the panchayat area.

As the argument intensified, both DMK and AIADMK members walked out of the meeting. Following the walkout, the executive officer announced that the meeting had been adjourned without specifying a new date.

The incident has created a stir in the area, highlighting the growing tensions within the local administration. The walkout, led by the DMK's own deputy leader against the chairperson Kalaivani Balamurali, has raised questions about internal party dynamics and the effectiveness of local governance in Madathukulam.
