Every year on May 5th, Tamil Nadu Trade Union holds a union conference. This year it was held on VOC grounds which was crowded with vans, cars and buses as a large number of traders and businessmen took part in the event.
Some of the provisions in the resolutions that were tabled during the conference were- declaration of government holiday for businessmen on May 5th, permission for tea shops and hotels to stay open late in the night, provision of free housing to people who run roadside shops and building of overpass to control traffic from Athupalam to Oppanakaraa.

The conference also highlighted the unaffordable rates of the GST, which they requested should be brought down to a rate that would be beneficial, both for the producers and the consumers.
Dignitaries such as trade union president, Parameshwaran; General Secretary, Raja Singh; treasurer, Pasilingam; advisor, Karunagaran and district head, Siluvai Muthukumar, were present during the conference.
