Coimbatore: The construction work for renovating and reconstructing the rainwater drainage system began in Gandhipuram, Gandhipuram 3rd Street, which falls under Ward No. 29 of the Coimbatore Corporation's North Zone. This project, spanning 210 meters, is being undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.80 lakh from the Corporation's general funds.

Kathirvel, Assistant Commissioner Sridevi, Assistant Engineer Ezhil, Zonal Health Officer Rajendran, Assistant Engineers L.S. Mahesh, Nasser, and other Corporation officials.

Once completed, this rainwater drainage construction work is expected to reduce flood-related issues in the area during rainy seasons. Furthermore, it will improve the city's drainage system, contributing to a healthier environment.

The project aims to address long-standing concerns of waterlogging and improper drainage in the locality. By enhancing the infrastructure, the Corporation hopes to mitigate potential health hazards associated with stagnant water and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Ward 29.

Local residents have welcomed this initiative, as it promises to bring relief from monsoon-related inconveniences. The timely completion of this project is crucial, considering the approaching northeast monsoon season.
