MLA Vanathi Srinivasan Alleges 850 Tamil Nadu Officials Involved in Drug Trafficking

Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan accuses 850 Tamil Nadu police and government officials of aiding drug traffickers from foreign countries and other states, demanding action from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Coimbatore: In a startling revelation, Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has alleged that 850 Tamil Nadu police and government officials have been aiding drug traffickers from foreign countries and other states. The BJP legislator made these claims in a Facebook post on September 18, causing a stir among the public.

Addressing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who oversees the Home Department, Vanathi Srinivasan raised several pointed questions. She asked, "What happened to your promise of creating a drug-free Tamil Nadu when the state is in the grip of drug abuse? Were you unaware all this time that government officials and police under your administration were involved in such drug trafficking?"

The MLA further questioned the government's approach, stating, "Is your government, which is conducting a 'ganja hunt' drama on one side, supporting drug trafficking on the other?" She also inquired about the measures taken by the Chief Minister to control drug substances in Tamil Nadu, despite repeated emphasis by the state courts.

Vanathi Srinivasan urged immediate action, saying, "Considering the future of Tamil Nadu, it is demanded on behalf of the Tamil people that the growing drug menace in the state should be controlled, and the 850 government officials allegedly involved in drug trafficking should be investigated and appropriate action taken against them."

The allegations come at a time when the state government has been publicly campaigning against drug abuse, raising questions about the effectiveness of these efforts and the depth of the drug problem in Tamil Nadu.
