Kongu Region Will Not Forgive Chief Minister M.K. Stalin: MLA Vanathi Srinivasan

Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan criticizes CM Stalin's remarks about Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's handling of GST issues, accusing DMK government of neglecting Kongu region's industrial decline.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has strongly criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's recent comments about Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In a Facebook post on September 14, Vanathi Srinivasan responded to Stalin's statement made upon his return from the US trip.

Stalin had remarked that "the way Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman handled the legitimate demands of entrepreneurs regarding GST is something to be ashamed of." Vanathi Srinivasan countered this, stating that Nirmala Sitharaman visited Coimbatore to address the declining industrial situation in the Kongu region, but the DMK government did not cooperate with her efforts.

The MLA accused Chief Minister Stalin of attempting to divert attention from the issue and hide the positive actions taken by the Union Finance Minister from the public. She highlighted that due to the DMK government's excessive increase in electricity charges, property tax, and registration fees, about 30% of micro, small, and medium enterprises are on the verge of closure.

Vanathi Srinivasan mentioned that as an elected representative, she had arranged a meeting for entrepreneurs to directly interact with the Union Finance Minister. She praised Nirmala Sitharaman for patiently listening and responding to the demands and suggestions of each entrepreneur.

The BJP MLA alleged that the DMK and its alliance parties are trying to gain political mileage by exaggerating a routine incident that occurred during the event. She accused them of being unable to accept the success of the meeting.

In a scathing attack, Vanathi Srinivasan stated that Chief Minister Stalin should be ashamed for being a mere spectator to the declining industries in Coimbatore and not helping in any way to boost the city's industrial growth. She concluded by asserting that the Kongu region will not forgive the DMK government and Chief Minister Stalin.
