Retired HM arrested for murdering his 80-year-old mother

Thanjavur: A retired Head Master of government higher secondary school was arrested for murdering his 80-year-old mother following a quarrel and enacting a drama as if she were murdered by somebody else for her jewels.

Kasinathan (58), resident of Rajaraja Cholan Nagar, Srinivasapuram and working as Head Master at the Government Higher Secondary School at Vadaseri village who returned home in the evening on March 20 was shocked to find his 80-year-old mother Sivakami lying dead and her personal jewels weighing 6 sovereigns and Rs 10,000 kept in the house stolen.  Chilli powder was found sprinkled on her face.

Based on his complaint, Thanjavur west police registered a case and conducted investigation in various angle.

Police initially thought that the unidentified robbers could have sprinkled chilli powder on her face for robbing her jewels and murdered the old woman as she resisted. But there was no progress in the investigation.  Police were clueless on the identity of her assailants.

Following which, police grew suspicious on Kasinathan who retired from service on March 31 and grilled him. Then, it was   discovered that it was Kasinathan who had smothered his mother to death with a pillow following a quarrel and enacted a drama as if she were murdered by somebody else for robbing her jewels.
