Summer showers cool Nilgiris.

The town of Coonoor and adjoining places received heavy rains yesterday noon which continued till late night with reports of hail stones in most of the places around Coonoor.

The heavy rains certainly disrupted the tourist crowd in the town and also created severe traffic ruckus. The showers lasted for several hours, leading to water logging at all prime junctions and uprooting of giant trees at multiple places which further added to the traffic chaos.

However, the people of Nilgiris district especially tourists enjoyed by collecting the hail stones and clicking pictures of the same. The local farmers have stated that these surprise showers though intermittent continue to better their water requirements for farming.
