Odisha youth arrested for selling cannabis chocolate in Madathukulam, Tirupur

Police in Madathukulam, Tirupur district, arrested a 34-year-old man from Odisha for possessing and selling cannabis chocolate. The arrest followed a tip-off and subsequent search operation in the area.


Tirupur: In a significant drug bust, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing of Dharapuram police station arrested a 34-year-old man from Odisha for selling cannabis chocolate in Madathukulam area of Tirupur district. The arrest came after the police received a tip-off about cannabis distribution in the locality.

Acting on the information, a team led by Police Inspector Shanthi conducted a thorough search operation in the Madathukulam area. During the inspection at Sengalani Puthur bus stop, the police apprehended Basudeb Pal, a 34-year-old youth from a northern state, who was found carrying cannabis chocolate in his bag.



The police seized 3.2 kilograms of cannabis chocolate from the accused. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to curb drug trafficking and distribution in the region.

The arrest of Basudeb Pal and the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis chocolate underscore the challenges faced by authorities in combating the illegal drug trade, especially the trafficking of drugs from other states into Tamil Nadu.
