Rare Red Sand Boa rescued from two-wheeler near Sulur

A rare Red Sand Boa was discovered in a scooter's fuel tank near Sulur, Coimbatore. The snake was safely rescued by a snake catcher and will be released into the dense forest under Madukkarai forest range.

Coimbatore: In an unusual incident near Sulur, a rare Red Sand Boa was rescued from a two-wheeler parked in front of a photo studio in the Pappampatti division. The snake was discovered when the vehicle's owner, Dinesh, opened the fuel tank to check the petrol level.

Shocked by the unexpected sight, Dinesh stood frozen, unsure of what to do next. As news spread, a crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the snake. Immediately, locals informed Sajeesh, a nearby snake catcher, about the situation.

Sajeesh promptly arrived at the scene and skillfully captured the snake from the two-wheeler. He identified it as a rare Red Sand Boa, also known as a "two-headed" snake due to its tail resembling its head. Sajeesh explained that this non-venomous snake is sometimes sold at high prices for medicinal purposes.

The snake catcher assured that the rescued Red Sand Boa would be released into a dense forest area under the jurisdiction of the Madukkarai forest range, ensuring its safe return to its natural habitat.
