Thudiyalur police in Coimbatore seized 2.5 kg of ganja from a college student named Rahul (20) near Kozhi Pannai junction. The student was arrested and remanded to Central Prison following a tip-off about ganja sales in the area.

Coimbatore: In a significant drug bust, the Thudiyalur police in Coimbatore arrested a college student and seized 2.5 kg of ganja from his possession. The accused, identified as Rahul (20), was subsequently remanded to the Coimbatore Central Prison.

The operation was carried out based on confidential information received about ganja being brought for sale in the Thudiyalur police station limits. Acting on the orders of the Superintendent of Police, a special team was formed under the supervision of Periyanaickenpalayam Deputy Superintendent of Police Namasivayam.

The team, led by Thudiyalur Assistant Inspector Jayaprakash and including constables Veeramani and Balasubramani, conducted a search operation near the Kozhi Pannai junction in the Thudiyalur Kanuvai area. During the search, they intercepted a college student and found 2.5 kg of ganja in his bag.

The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning, where he revealed his identity as Rahul, a student of a private college in the Madukkarai area of Coimbatore. Following the interrogation, the Thudiyalur police registered a case against Rahul.

The seized 2.5 kg of ganja was documented as evidence, and Rahul was produced before the court. After the legal proceedings, he was remanded to the Coimbatore Central Prison. This incident has raised concerns about drug trafficking and substance abuse among college students in the region.
