Presently, the residents of Appasamy Lay out of Avarampalayam Road, Ganapathy are staging protests in front of the District Collectorate condemning the opening of a new Tasmac outlet in their residential area. The residents held placards and raised slogans against the idea of opening new tasmac outlet in their residential area, which is amidst schools, temples and wedding halls.
'What is the point in closing the liquor shops on National Highways and opening new shops in residential areas?', asked the infuriated residents, who were mostly Women. The residents also condemned that not in just their area, but the idea of setting up Tasmacs' in residential areas will not only lead to public nuisance but also set a bad example for the school/college-going students.
The Police are conducting talks with the protestors to withdraw their protest and that they would escalate the issue to the concerned officials.
