A house partially collapsed due to continuous rain in Pudu Kottai Medu, Dharapuram. Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj visited the affected family and provided relief assistance.

Coimbatore: In a recent incident in Pudu Kottai Medu area of Dharapuram, Tiruppur district, a house partially collapsed due to continuous rainfall over the past four days. The incident occurred at the residence of Jaya, a 62-year-old woman who had recently lost her husband Mooventhar to illness just ten days ago.

On the day of the incident, Jaya's son Suresh, who works at a private restaurant in Perundurai, had come to visit his mother. While Jaya was cooking inside, Suresh was sitting on the porch, talking on his mobile phone. Suddenly, a part of the house, including the kitchen, collapsed. Fortunately, Jaya, who was in another room, escaped unharmed.

Upon learning about the incident, Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare Kayalvizhi Selvaraj visited the affected family in Pudu Kottai Medu to provide relief assistance. The Minister was accompanied by DMK Urban District Secretary Muruganandham, Dharapuram Municipal Chairman Pappu Kannan, Deputy Chairman Ravichandran, and ward members, along with other DMK officials and members of the public.

The collapse is believed to have been caused by the weakening of the mud walls due to continuous rain over the past four days. The incident highlights the vulnerability of certain structures to extreme weather conditions and the need for prompt assistance to affected families.
