The Railway Protection Force (RPF) marked Raising Day-2026 across the Coimbatore Circle with cleanliness drives, passenger awareness campaigns, railway safety programmes and guest lectures. The initiatives focused on passenger security, preventing railway trespassing and and strengthening railway safety awareness.
Coimbatore: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) observed Raising Day-2026 across the Coimbatore Circle on September 20, organising a series of programmes to promote railway security, passenger safety, cleanliness and public awareness.
The events were conducted under the supervision of Chandra Mohan, Assistant Security Commissioner, RPF/Coimbatore, with the participation of officers and staff from CBE, PTJ, MTP, ZTCD and CIB.
The day’s activities commenced with a Sramdhaan cleanliness drive at the Kurinji RPF Barracks in Coimbatore, where 25 officers and staff cleaned and spruced up the barrack premises and surrounding areas, underscoring the importance of maintaining hygiene across RPF establishments.
A Mass Passenger Awareness Drive was then held at Coimbatore Railway Station and onboard trains. RPF personnel interacted with passengers to raise awareness about railway security, crime prevention and the protection of railway property. The campaign also highlighted the dangers of throwing stones or placing objects on railway tracks, cattle grazing near railway lines, garbage dumping and other unsafe activities.
As part of its safety outreach, the RPF conducted a special Trespass and Railway Safety Awareness Programme at vulnerable locations across the Coimbatore Circle, including areas near Ondipudur ROB and Irugur Yard. The initiative focused on the risks of unauthorised trespassing onto railway tracks and urged the public to follow safe practices around railway premises.
The celebrations also featured guest lectures at the S&T/Workshop/Podanur Conference Hall. Soundararajan, a dog expert, spoke about the importance of trained dogs in railway security and operational activities. This was followed by a session on ‘Yoga for Preventive Oncology’ by Dr. Jeladharan S., Professor of Practice – IKS & Yoga at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore, who highlighted the role of yoga and preventive healthcare practices.
Through these initiatives, the RPF combined internal cleanliness efforts, passenger engagement, safety education and knowledge-sharing activities to mark Raising Day-2026 across the Coimbatore Circle.
