BJP Women's Wing Leader Vanathi Srinivasan Congratulates Actor Vijay on Political Entry

BJP National Women's Wing President Vanathi Srinivasan MLA congratulated actor Vijay on his political entry and emphasized that government relations should not be equated with political alliances.

Coimbatore: BJP National Women's Wing President Vanathi Srinivasan MLA stated that government relations should not be equated with political alliances, amid criticism from AIADMK leaders about DMK's alleged secret alliance with BJP.

Speaking at a private arts and science college in Sulur, Coimbatore district, where a handloom dress parade competition was held for college students to mark National Handloom Day, Vanathi Srinivasan and actress Namitha participated as special guests. They awarded prizes and certificates to the winners after walking hand-in-hand on the ramp to encourage the contestants.

Addressing reporters after the event, Vanathi Srinivasan said, "We have been conducting handloom dress parade competitions for the 7th year to create awareness among college students about handloom weaving. Through this, we explain the tradition of handloom weaving, why we should support handloom weavers, and the economic changes that occur through increased handloom production. The number of students participating in these competitions is increasing every year, with 2,490 students participating this year alone."

Responding to a question about actor Vijay's entry into politics, she said, "Tamil Nadu has seen hundreds of such flags and leaders. On behalf of the BJP, we extend our congratulations to actor Vijay, who has entered the political arena as a new competitor and fellow politician."

Regarding AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami's criticism that the DMK government is inaugurating projects brought by the AIADMK government in Coimbatore, Vanathi Srinivasan commented, "Although projects like flyovers and the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme were initiated during the previous administration, they have now been completed and inaugurated by the DMK government. Since DMK took office, they have announced many projects for Coimbatore, including the Classical Tamil Park. We can comment on these projects based on how quickly they complete them."

Addressing the criticism of DMK's alleged secret alliance with BJP, she stated, "It is wrong to view government events through the lens of alliances. Even when BJP was not in alliance with AIADMK, BJP's central ministers have participated in government functions in Tamil Nadu. The relationship between governments should not be equated with political alliances."
