It was certainly a disappointing day for the passengers of the Ooty toy train, as the train was cancelled today due to an engine problem.
This historic train travels through 208 curves, 16 tunnels, and across 250 bridges. The uphill journey takes around 4 hours and 8 minutes and the downhill journey takes around 215 minutes (3.6 hours).
Yesterday, the toy train stopped abruptly nearly Adderly station due to an engine pressure issue. All 282 passengers were stranded mid-way in the forests until an alternate engine from Coonoor was replaced. Following this, engine problem the Nilgiri Mountain Railway authorities cancelled the train service from Mettupalayam to Ooty, for today.
