District Collector Conducts Public Grievance Redressal Camp in Gudalur

District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati held a public grievance redressal camp in Gudalur, Coimbatore. Various welfare schemes were distributed, and public concerns were addressed during the event.

Coimbatore: A public grievance redressal camp was conducted by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati at a private wedding hall near the Gas Company in Gudalur Municipality. The event began with Coimbatore North Revenue Divisional Officer Govindan welcoming the gathering, followed by a felicitation speech by Gudalur Municipality Chairman Arivarasu.

Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the event by visiting various exhibition stalls set up by different departments, including Health, Horticulture, Women's Self-Help Groups, and Tamil Puthalvan scheme.

Mettupalayam MLA A.K. Selvaraj, who was present at the function, highlighted the plight of residents in several villages of Coimbatore district, including Gudalur, which fall under the Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA) control. He urged the authorities to take necessary action to provide proper livelihood opportunities for those affected by restrictions on buying or selling properties in these areas.

Addressing the gathering, Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati mentioned that the Minister for Housing and Urban Development has formed a committee to address issues related to HACA regulations, considering that villages are located at intervals of one kilometer along the foothills. He also noted that HACA approval is no longer required for constructing houses up to 300 square feet. The Collector appealed to parents to help increase student attendance in Coimbatore schools from the current 90% to at least 95%.

During the event, welfare schemes worth approximately Rs. 6.10 crore were distributed to 184 beneficiaries. These included free house site pattas to 98 beneficiaries, individual forest rights pattas to 3 people under the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, sewing machines to 3 individuals, family cards to 12 people, assistance to 3 self-help groups under the Women's Scheme, subsidies to 4 people under the Horticulture Department, agricultural subsidies to 19 farmers, Chief Minister's Insurance Scheme benefits to 37 individuals, and maternity nutrition kits to 8 beneficiaries.

The Collector also received petitions from the public, assuring them of appropriate action. The event was attended by Gudalur Municipality Commissioner Manoharan, officials from various departments, and a large number of local residents.
