Members of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi submitted a petition to the Pollachi Sub-Collector, requesting permission to install a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Pollachi town areas. The petition was presented during a public grievance redressal camp.
Coimbatore: Members of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and social organizations have been persistently demanding permission to install a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, in prominent areas of Pollachi town such as Thiruvalluvar Thidal and Thernilai Thidal.
On Monday, a delegation led by Prabhu, the VCK's zonal joint secretary, submitted a petition to Sub-Collector Catherine Saranya during a public grievance redressal camp held at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office. The petition urged the authorities to grant permission for the installation of the Ambedkar statue in Pollachi town.
The VCK representatives emphasized the importance of honoring Dr. Ambedkar's legacy and his contributions to social justice and equality. They argued that installing his statue in a public space would serve as a reminder of his ideals and inspire future generations.
Sub-Collector Catherine Saranya received the petition and assured the delegation that their request would be considered and forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further action. The officials will review the proposal, taking into account factors such as location suitability and existing regulations before making a decision.
