DMK along with six other parties has called for a one-day state bandh on April 25th to highlight the plight of the farmers who are protesting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. Several Organisations including Tamil Nadu Hotel Association have extended their support for the bandh.
In this regard, Communist Party of India have also proposed to take part in the protest and show their condemnation against central and state governments for not addressing the farmers' protest. In a regional meeting (east zone) that was conducted today in the city at Balan Nagar, the representatives of CPI unanimously decided to agree to participate in the bandh.
During the meeting resolutions were passed on several pressing issues like allocation of proper bus stand for Omni buses at Singanallur bus stand, illegal supply of liquor at Singanallur bus stand, pending railway over-bridge work at ESIH Colony, Peelamedu, irregular supply of essentials in ration shops among others.
