Private Foundation Honors Sanitation Workers with Biryani Lunch in Idikarai Town Panchayat

Karunyam Foundation provided biryani lunch to over 100 sanitation workers in Idikarai Town Panchayat, Coimbatore, recognizing their essential service to the community.

Coimbatore: In a gesture of appreciation for their invaluable service, over 100 sanitation workers of Idikarai First Grade Town Panchayat in Coimbatore district were treated to a special biryani lunch by Karunyam Foundation, a private charitable organization.

The foundation, based in Coimbatore, has been providing meals to sanitation workers across various panchayats and town panchayats in Tamil Nadu as part of their ongoing initiative to recognize the crucial role these workers play in maintaining community hygiene.

Krishnathma, the founder of Karunyam Foundation, personally served the biryani to the workers as they finished their shift. Speaking about the initiative, Krishnathma said, "We are all indebted to the sanitation worker community. They perform the essential task of cleaning and sanitizing the waste we discard daily without hesitation. If they were to skip their duties even for a day, we would find it difficult to go about our lives comfortably and maintain good health."

He further added, "Considering their year-round service without any expectations, we at Karunyam Foundation have decided to honor them by providing meals in every panchayat. We are grateful to the Town Panchayat President and administration for helping us fulfill this objective."

The Karunyam Foundation has been extending this gesture to sanitation workers across various panchayats in Tamil Nadu since 2020. The event at Idikarai First Grade Town Panchayat was attended by Town Panchayat President Janarthanam, Vice President Sekar, and other members who appreciated the foundation's efforts.

The sanitation workers expressed their gratitude for the recognition and the meal, feeling happy and appreciated for their often overlooked but essential work in keeping the community clean and healthy.
