CPI(M) Udumalpet town committee held a protest demanding the withdrawal of three criminal laws introduced by the BJP-led Modi government. The demonstration took place in front of the Udumalpet bus stand in Tirupur district.

Tirupur: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Udumalpet town committee staged a protest in front of the Udumalpet bus stand in Tirupur district, demanding the withdrawal of three criminal laws introduced by the BJP-led Modi government at the Centre.

The demonstration was led by Udumalpet town secretary Thandapani. Several party leaders addressed the gathering, emphasizing the objectives of the protest. S.R. Madhusudanan, district executive committee member, A. Panchalingam, district committee member, and town committee members Viswanathan, Comrade Raja, Vasanthi, and Jahangir delivered speeches during the event.

Prior to the speeches, the protesters raised slogans against the Union BJP government. The demonstration saw a significant turnout, with branch secretaries and members of the public participating in large numbers.

The CPI(M) has been vocal in its opposition to the criminal laws proposed by the central government, viewing them as potentially detrimental to civil liberties. This protest in Udumalpet is part of the party's wider campaign to pressurize the government to reconsider and withdraw these controversial laws.
