Public Faces Hardship at Makkaludan Mudhalvar Event Near Madathukulam in Tirupur

Thousands of people gathered at Murugan Marriage Hall in Thungavi panchayat for the Makkaludan Mudhalvar program, causing chaos and traffic congestion due to poor planning by local authorities.

Tirupur: The Makkaludan Mudhalvar program, a public outreach initiative by the Tamil Nadu government, was held today at Murugan Marriage Hall in Thungavi panchayat near Madathukulam, Tirupur district. The event, which was meant to benefit residents of Thungavi, Thanthoni, and Medratti panchayats, turned chaotic as thousands of people gathered at the venue.

The lack of proper planning by the Madathukulam revenue department and panchayat administration led to a tense situation as more than a thousand people crowded the hall area.

The main road from Thungavi to Kodamangalam experienced severe traffic congestion due to the event.

Reports suggest that basic facilities were not adequately provided for the public attending the Makkaludan Mudhalvar program.

Upon learning of the situation, Revenue Divisional Officer Jaswant Kannan visited the site to assess the situation. He managed to control the crowd and distributed tokens to the public. Additional e-seva centers were also brought in from the Udumalpet area to Thungavi village to handle the increased demand for services.

The public submitted a large number of petitions requesting free house sites, patta transfers, legal heir certificates, and inquiries about the Mahalir Thogai scheme. However, many people left disappointed as key department officials, who were supposed to attend the event, were reportedly absent.

The incident highlights the need for better organization and planning for such public outreach programs to ensure they serve their intended purpose without causing inconvenience to the public.
