Recently, the disciplinary code of lawyers had been amended on the recommendation of the Bar Council. Lawyers took a stance against these amendments saying that it violated the rights of lawyers. As per the bill, advocates would be required to pay compensation to clients in case they go on strikes, abstinence or fail to appear in courts. A protest was also held in the Coimbatore combined court complex, where lawyers burnt the documents related to this amendment.
Protests are expected to be held on the 2nd and 3rd of May in Delhi as well, with respect to the same issue.
