Coimbatore: The Highways Department is actively engaged in a significant road expansion project on the Pollachi-Palladam route in Coimbatore district. The Rs. 40 crore project involves upgrading the existing two-lane road to a four-lane highway, covering the stretches from Kamanayakkanpalayam to Sultanpet and from Kattampatti to Negamam.

On Sunday, Ramesh, the Superintending Engineer of Highways Department (Construction and Maintenance) for the Coimbatore Circle, conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing work. During his visit, he closely examined the dimensions of the expanded road and inquired about its quality standards.

Ramesh provided valuable guidance to ensure the four-lane road is constructed to the highest standards. He emphasized the importance of completing the work swiftly without compromising on quality. The official stressed that the expanded road should meet all safety and durability requirements.

The inspection team included several other officials from the Highways Department. Among them were Saravana Selvam, the Divisional Engineer, and Arunagiri, the Assistant Divisional Engineer. Arivazhagan and other department personnel also participated in the inspection.

This road expansion project is expected to significantly improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion between Pollachi and Palladam. Once completed, it will facilitate smoother transportation for both commercial and personal vehicles, potentially boosting economic activities in the region.
