Rotary Club of Coimbatore has joined hands with the Rotary Club of San Diego Downtown Breakfast to implement the clean India project by building toilets in Government Schools. In the aim of eliminating open defecation and to improve the sanitary standards at all government schools, Rotary Club of Coimbatore continues to contribute to enhance the hygiene standard of Government schools by building toilets.
Apart from Clean India Project, the club has been instrumental in many projects like Dr. Kalam Library, donating smart classrooms and building play areas for children at Primary Corporation Schools. On 27th March, 2017, the club donated playground equipments to the Corporation Elementary School, RS Puram.

Rotary International, the Parent Club and the prime face behind Polio elimination has agreed to fund 50% of the cost to all Rotary Clubs in India to implement the Clean India Mission. Speaking on the insights of the project, Ramkumar, Secretary of Rotary Club of Coimbatore said, 'Rotary International has volunteered to take up 50% of the cost involved in building toilets at all Government schools. In this regard, so far, our Club has spent Rs. 65 lakhs in constructing toilets at 10 government schools.

Today, we have opened new toilet facilities for students of Panchayat Elementary School, Irugur, VCV Government Higher Secondary School, Vellakinar and Government Girls High School, Ashokapuram.
We have also ensured that there is continuous water facility at all toilets. However, our work doesn't stop by just construction of toilets. To ensure cleanliness and functionality of the toilets, we have planned to form an audit team who will be vested with the responsibility of supervising the toilets on a monthly basis and generate reports.

For a period of five years, Rotary Club of Coimbatore will submit half yearly reports on the status of new toilet construction and maintenance of the existing ones to Rotary International. All the teachers and Principals of the schools have been rendering their fullest support in accomplishing the project'.
Ramkumar also added that today Rotary Club of Coimbatore along with clean India project has also donated 6 Steel Almirah,6 Book Racks, 100 trays and 190 each Ties & Belts to Students of Panchayat Elementary School, Irugur, Library renovation at VCV Government Higher Secondary School, Vellakinar and built walking pathways at Government Girls High School, Ashokapuram.
During today's event, Gurpreet Singh, President, Rotary Club of Coimbatore, Assistant Governor, Marappan, and Executive Committee members of the club were present.
