Heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed the tourist town Ooty, Coonoor and its surroundings for more than a couple of hours.The summer showers that started by 8 pm, on Thursday lashed down continuously for several hours leaving the 'Queen of Hills' even more pleasant and cold.
'This surprise showers is a much-needed relief from the sweltering heat. Though intermittent, these summer showers will help to revive our crops from this extreme drought situation', said a farmer in Coonoor.
As there is a possibility of a landslide, travelers are advised to be aware of the situation.
