From the past, the Coimbatore City Corporation had been issuing stern warnings to the people for fixing motor pumps on water pipelines to draw excess water.
In this regard, it is been reported that residents from Ward No: 94 -100 are involved in drawing more water from the pipelines using motor pumps. The Corporation Officials of South Zone inspected the area and warned those residents who were involved in such activities. Despite warnings, it is reported that the residents continue to do so.
Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Commissioner, CCMC has stated that 'Pumping of water creates artificial demand and unequal distribution of water. The residents of Ward No 94 -100 should take this as the final warning and refrain from illegal withdrawal of water. If illegal water tapping continues, the water supply to those houses will be disconnected without any notice'.
