Coimbatore: A state-level karate competition organized by the International Shindo Kan Karate Training School was held in Pollachi, drawing more than 200 students from various districts including Dindigul, Trichy, Coimbatore, and Tiruppur. The event took place at a private hall on Pollachi-Palladam Road, with the aim of encouraging karate athletes.
The competition was divided into different age and weight categories, including Junior, Sub-Junior, Senior, and Super Senior. Participants showcased their skills in three disciplines: Kata, Kumite, and Team Kata. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates at the conclusion of the event.

Students who secured first and second places in this competition will have the opportunity to participate in the national-level karate tournament. Indian Karate Chief Instructor Panchalingam announced that permission has been granted to host the World Karate Competition in Pollachi on June 17, 2025. He expressed pride in the fact that 2,000 athletes are expected to participate in this event, bringing honor to the Pollachi region.
