Major Reshuffle: 18 IPS Officers Transferred in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has transferred 18 IPS officers, including key positions in Chennai and other districts. This move comes days after the brutal murder of BSP state president Armstrong in Chennai.

Coimbatore: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government has transferred 18 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including several high-ranking officials. This major overhaul comes in the wake of the brutal murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president Armstrong in Chennai.

Among the key transfers, Asra Garg, IPS, who was heading the Armstrong murder investigation, has been appointed as Chennai's Inspector General (IG) of Police-North Zone. KS Narenthiran Nayar has been appointed as the North Chennai Additional Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Police.

Tambaram Police Commissioner Amalraj, IPS, has been appointed as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Enforcement Bureau. Abin Dinesh Modak, IPS, will replace Amalraj as the new Tambaram Police Commissioner. Prem Anand Sinha, who was the Additional Commissioner of Police of South Chennai, is now the IG of the South Zone based in Madurai. N Kannan, IG, has been posted as the new Additional Commissioner of Police of South Chennai.

In other significant appointments, TS Anbu, IG of CB-CID, will hold additional charge as the CB-CID chief. The agency is currently investigating the Kallakurichi Hooch Tragedy that claimed 65 lives last month. S Lakshmi has been posted as the Tiruppur City Police Commissioner, while Praveen Kumar Abhinapu is the new Salem City Police Commissioner.

The reshuffle also saw Sandeep Mittal appointed as Additional DGP Cyber Crime, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal as ADGP Armed Forces, Sanjay Kumar as ADGP Coast Guard, and Rajiv Kumar as ADGP Crime Against Women and Children.
