Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS inaugurated an athletic competition for corporation school students on July 12, 2024, at Nehru Indoor Stadium. The event saw participation from over 950 students from 42 schools.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS inaugurated an athletic competition for corporation school students on Friday (12.07.2024) at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in the Central Zone of Coimbatore Corporation. The event was organized jointly by SNS Educational Institutions, VGM Hospital, and Coimbatore Athletic Club.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Corporation Deputy Mayor R. Vetrichelvam. The competition aims to enhance the educational and individual skills of students studying in Coimbatore Corporation schools. More than 950 students from 42 corporation schools participated in the event.

Winners of the competition will be awarded medals and certificates of appreciation. The top three schools will receive trophies. All participating students will be given certificates of appreciation, recognizing their efforts and encouraging their involvement in sports activities.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Corporation Deputy Commissioner Dr. S. Selvasurabi, Central Zone Committee Chairman Meena Logu, Education Committee Chairman Malathi Nagaraj, District Sports Officer S. Aruna, and Corporation Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran. Representatives from the organizing institutions were also present, including VGM Hospital Chairman V.G. Mohan Prasad, SNS College of Technology Principal S. Senthur Pandian, and Sakthi Educational Institutions Vice-Chairman Deepan Thangavelu.

Other notable attendees included Coimbatore District Athletics Association President P.K. Shamsudeen, Treasurer John Singarayer, Vice-Presidents Coimbatore Ramesh and G.K. Rathinavel, and S. Srinivasan, who serves as both the President of Coimbatore Athletic Club and the Technical Chairman of Tamil Nadu Athletics.
