Grand Kumbabhishekam Ceremony at Mahakaliyamman Temple Draws Thousands of Devotees

The Mahakaliyamman Temple in Appulupalayam near Narasimhanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, celebrated its Mahakumbabhishekam with a series of rituals and ceremonies, attracting a large number of devotees.


Coimbatore: The Arulmigu Mahakaliyamman Temple in Appulupalayam, near Narasimhanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, celebrated its grand Mahakumbabhishekam ceremony, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region. The event, which began on the 10th with auspicious music, included a series of rituals and ceremonies leading up to the main Kumbabhishekam.

The festivities commenced with the bringing of the holy water pot from the Raja Ganapati temple, followed by Punyahavachanam, Vastu Shanti, and the first round of Yagasalai poojas. The second round of Yagasalai poojas took place yesterday, along with the consecration of new idols for Sri Mahakaliyamman and Sri Balamurugan.



The ceremony included special rituals such as Nootana Bimba Suddhi Thirumanjanam, Vimana Kalasa Prathishtai, Ashtabandana medicine application, and Mangala Aarti. The third round of Yagasalai poojas was also conducted. Today, the fourth and final round of Yagasalai poojas began at 6 AM, culminating in the Mahakumbabhishekam ceremony.

Thousands of devotees participated in the darshan of the deity. Following the main ceremony, special pujas, including Alankara Puja and Abhisheka Puja, were performed for the goddess. Prasadam was distributed to the devotees, and annadanam (free food distribution) was organized as part of the celebrations.

The event was meticulously organized by the management committee members, including V. Rajendran, Gunasekaran, Balaji, Arulmani, Sekaran, Veerabhadran, Devaraj, Jayalakshmi, Damodara Samy Naidu, along with the festival committee members and local residents.
