Farooq, an active member of the Dravida Viduthalai Kazhzagam (DVK), was gruesomely murdered on 16th March, 2017. Farooq prompted people to look beyond blind beliefs and superstitions instilled by religions. It is reported that during several instances, members of his own community, warned him against doing this, however Farooq stood his stance.

Leaders of DVK party condemned the murder stating that in recent times atheist people like Farooq are being targetted and India being a democratic country, every person has the freedom to follow his own practices.

Yesterday, a portrait of Farooq was unveiled by DVK leader Kollathur Mani at Annamalai Hall opposite to Coimbatore railway station. According to the Dravida Viduthalai Kazhzagam spokesperson, 'The murder case has now been taken up by the CBCID. DVK will provide complete support to investigate and arrest the murderers'.
The members of Dravida Viduthalai Kazhzagam hope that the murder case is handled without any bias. They also believe that everyone is entitled to their individual opinions. Taking the life of a person for the ideologies they believe in is completely unjustifiable.
