Forest Department Rescues Spotted Deer from 150-foot Well in Coimbatore

Forest officials, with the help of the fire department, rescued a spotted deer that fell into a 150-foot well in Theeththipalayam, Coimbatore. The deer was given medical treatment and released back into the dense forest.

Coimbatore: In a successful rescue operation, forest officials saved a spotted deer that had fallen into a 150-foot deep well in Theeththipalayam, Coimbatore. The incident highlights the frequent encounters between wildlife and human settlements in the suburban areas of Coimbatore.

The rescue operation was initiated after local residents informed the forest department about the deer struggling in the well. Responding promptly, forest officials, with assistance from the fire department, managed to retrieve the animal safely from the well.

Areas like Semmadu and Theeththipalayam, which border the forest regions in suburban Coimbatore, often witness wild animals like elephants and deer venturing into human settlements in search of food and water. This incident serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between wildlife habitats and expanding urban areas.

After the rescue, the spotted deer was given immediate medical attention to ensure its well-being. Once the veterinarians confirmed that the animal was in good health, forest officials released it back into the dense forest, away from human habitation.

This successful rescue operation underscores the importance of quick response and coordination between different government departments in wildlife conservation efforts. It also highlights the need for increased awareness among residents living in areas adjacent to forests about wildlife behavior and the proper authorities to contact in such situations.
