Program conducted to create awareness on World Hemophilia day

To mark World Hemophilia Day, Coimbatore Medical College and Coimbatore Hemophilia Society held a rally. They aimed at spreading the message that Hemophilia is a deficiency and not a disease, through this program.
The rally kick-started at the Collector’s Office with the hoisting of the flag and ended at the Coimbatore Medical Hospital.

'One in 6000 babies is affected by Hemophilia. Avoiding incest marriages or marriages amongst relatives can prevent the spreading of this deficiency. The medicines to be taken during the treatment amounts to Rs.10,000. Hence, the government hospitals are providing treatment and medicines free of cost for the patients affected by Hemophilia. Reports say, 326 people in Coimbatore are affected by Hemophilia. It is a deficiency that must be identified and treated at an early stage', said the organisers.
