Colruyt Group Expands Presence in India with New IT Global Capability Center in Coimbatore

Colruyt Group, the Belgian retail corporation, inaugurated its second Global Capability Centre in Coimbatore, expanding its IT operations in India. The event was attended by distinguished guests and industry representatives.


Coimbatore: Belgian retail giant Colruyt Group has expanded its footprint in India with the inauguration of its second Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Coimbatore. The new facility, located at KCT Tech Park, marks a significant milestone in the company's growth strategy in the country.

The inauguration ceremony, held earlier this week, was graced by His Excellency Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to India, as the Chief Guest. Padma Shri Dr. Bakthavathsalam, Chairman of KG Hospital, attended as the Guest of Honor, while Balakrishnan V IPS, City Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, was present as a distinguished guest.





The event saw participation from prominent figures in the IT industry, educational institutions, business partners, and key members of NASSCOM and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Coimbatore chapter.

Peter Vanbellingen, CIO of Colruyt Group, expressed his excitement about the company's expansion in India and extended his best wishes to the entire team in the country. Hari Subramanian, MD of Colruyt Group India, shared a heartfelt message highlighting the growth of Colruyt Group in India and emphasized the potential Coimbatore offers in enhancing business sustainability for their operations in the country.





Coimbatore, known as an emerging engineering hub, was chosen for its abundance of possibilities and talent pool. The company expressed optimism and excitement about beginning their journey in this vibrant city.

The establishment of this new GCC in Coimbatore is expected to strengthen Colruyt Group's IT capabilities and support its global operations. This move aligns with the company's strategy to leverage India's technological expertise and skilled workforce.



With this expansion, Colruyt Group aims to tap into the local talent and contribute to the growth of the IT sector in Coimbatore. The new center is likely to create job opportunities for local professionals and foster innovation in retail technology solutions.
