Coimbatore: In a significant display of opposition against caste-based atrocities, the Tamilpuligal Katchi organized a state-wide protest in Coimbatore on July 1. The demonstration was primarily against the honor killing that took place in Madurai and the ransacking of a CPI(M) office in Nellai.

The protest was orchestrated by the party's western region youth secretary, Thambisenthil, and took place in front of the South Tahsildar Office in Coimbatore.
