Baralikadu, a striking hilltop village, where tourism was restricted only on weekends, has now been granted permission by the Tamil Nadu forest department to accommodate tourists for the summer vacation until the 31st of May. Tourists are expected to seek permission from the Tamil Nadu forest department through their website prior to visiting Baralikadu.

Baralikadu, which is 70kms from Coimbatore, is home to about 100 tribal families. These tribals are working alongside the forest department in order to help tourists have a memorable vacation. Food and lodging is provided. These tribals also act as guides to various activities such as boating and trekking. Many new huts are being built for the purpose of accommodation. Tree top huts are made for wildlife watching. The surreal beauty of the Athikaddavu falls never fails to leave sightseers astounded.

A small amount is collected from the tourists for the development and education of the tribals. A Karamadai forest ranger remarked that many a times the economic condition of people force them to take drastic steps like join terrorist groups. This initiative taken for the advancement of tribal families provides them with a sense of economic stability and prevents them from taking such measures.

Ladies and gentlemen, pack your bags and gear up, Baralikadu is all set to leave you with an indelible experience!
