Black flag-The symbol of a defiant protest at Chinniyampalayam

Yesterday, the people of Chinniyampalayam, staged a protest against the opening of tasmacs in their region. After the Supreme Court ordered all liquor shops on highways to be shut down, tasmacs are being constructed on the agricultural lands of Chinniyampalayam, the residents alleged.

This irrefutably affects the land available for agriculture in this region. Residents showed their defiance by tying Black flags to houses and shops.

The liquor shops being constructed at Chinniyampalyam will cause a safety concern amongst school and college going kids. There are no streetlights in this region either, making the place all the more menacing, the residents allge.

The people staunchly state that these protests will continue until some sort of action is finally taken.
