Residents of a marginalized community in Karamadai, Coimbatore, have filed a complaint against their Panchayat leader for encroaching government-allotted pattah land. They have escalated the issue to the District Collector, demanding action.
Coimbatore: Residents of Karamadai have lodged a formal complaint with the Coimbatore District Collector, Kranthi Kumar Pati, against their Panchayat leader for allegedly encroaching on government-allotted pattah land. The residents, belonging to a marginalized community, claim the encroachment has been ongoing, and despite multiple petitions to higher authorities since 2019, no substantial actions have been taken.
The community members urged the intervention of the collector stating that if no immediate actions are initiated, they plan to approach Makkaludan Mudhalvar directly to resolve this issue. This grievance affects approximately 350 families who have been persistently seeking resolution on the ownership of their legally allotted residential plots. The issue was raised previously to various officials including the previous collectors and chief minister, but with little to no progress reported.
