Udumalai Celebrates International Yoga Day with a Unique World Record Attempt

In celebration of International Yoga Day, Gunasekaran from Maragatham Yogalayam in Udumalai has embarked on a record-breaking attempt to perform yoga poses blindfolded for 360 hours over 15 days.


Coimbatore: In a remarkable display of endurance and dedication, yoga practitioner Gunasekaran has initiated a world record attempt in Udumalai, aiming to perform various yoga poses blindfolded continuously for 360 hours spanning 15 days. This effort coincides with International Yoga Day, highlighting the inclusive nature of yoga and promoting its benefits among visually impaired individuals as well.


The initiative, hosted at a private wedding hall in Udumalai, was inaugurated by DSP Sukumaran and Nanthagopalakrishnan, treasurer of Vidyaa Netra School. Gunasekaran, who has previously achieved several records in yoga, aims to inspire and motivate not only those with visual impairments but also the general public to embrace a healthy lifestyle through yoga.




Throughout the attempt, Kunasekaran will perform a variety of intricate asanas such as Yoga Dandasana, Chakrasana, and Shirasasana, captivating the audience with his skill and focus. This event not only aims to set a new record but also strives to increase awareness about the accessibility of yoga for everyone, regardless of physical limitations.


High-profile attendees, including the CEO of High Range Book of World Records Sumanbale from India and Srikant Snehem from the London office, along with Udumalai city BJP leader Kannaayiram, have contributed to the event's significance. Gunasekaran expressed his commitment to demonstrating that yoga is a powerful tool for achieving a life free from disease and enhancing overall well-being.
