Durai Vaiko Attends Mupperum Vizha in Coimbatore, Denounces Communal Politics

Durai Vaiko arrives in Coimbatore for Mupperum Vizha, emphasizes Tamil Nadu's rejection of communal politics through recent elections, and highlights DMK's collaborative successes.

Coimbatore: Durai Vaiko, Secretary-General of MDMK and MP from Trichy, reached Coimbatore today, flying in from Chennai to participate in the Mupperum Vizha organized by DMK at Kodissia. Addressing the media at the airport, he acknowledged the electorate for their role in the recent Indian Alliance victory, considering it a testament to DMK's three-year political success. He firmly stated, "Tamil Nadu is not a land for communal politics, as clearly demonstrated by the voters."

He emphasized the ongoing alliance with DMK and announced plans to strengthen the party ahead of the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections. "We are preparing ourselves for a significant victory in the upcoming elections," he said confidently. Dismissing rumors about a hike in electricity tariffs by the Tamil Nadu government, he assured that no such increase has been announced and called it a mere rumor.

Further, Vaiko reiterated MDMK's continuous collaboration with DMK, marking the Lok Sabha electoral success as a beginning of change, opposed to BJP's majority. He criticized the central government's authoritarian tendencies, promising to strive for the welfare of the Tamil people in Parliament to the best of his abilities.

On a regional note, he projected that in the Vikravandi by-election, the DMK-led alliance will see substantial success. He also appreciated Naam Tamilar Katchi for managing to secure 8% of the votes independently, despite ideological differences, particularly praising Seeman’s efforts in worker support in estate issues.
