Residents of Maharani Avenue in Thondamuthur, affected by the increase in wild boar activity, have called for immediate wildlife department intervention to address safety concerns.
Coimbatore: Maharani Avenue in Thondamuthur is facing a significant disturbance due to an increasing number of wild boars in the area. This residential neighborhood, home to over 500 houses and approximately 2,000 residents, has enjoyed a peaceful coexistence with nature for decades without any wildlife trouble. However, recent weeks have seen a surge in the movement of wild boars, which are damaging banana trees and other vegetation close to homes.
The local residents express their concerns, stating that the safety of children playing outside has become a major issue due to the presence of these wild boars. “We have been living in this area for over 30 years and never faced any wildlife disturbances until now,†said a local resident. “The situation has been threatening especially for the children and the elderly in the area. Immediate action from the forestry department to control the wild boar population is essential.â€
The community's call to action comes amid growing fears for personal safety and property damage, urging quick and effective measures to mitigate the risk posed by the boars and ensure the safety of their neighborhood.
